STUDENTS THOUGHTS AFTER HEARING STEVE’S PRESENTATIONS
- Steve was very passionate and interesting
- I liked how honest Steve was, and how he compared alcohol and drugs
- Steve’s presentation incorporated photos and videos very well
- Steve’s honesty about childhood really hit home with me
- Steve’s personal experiences were neat because it could be related, his talk made him seem real
- Steve’s presentations will make a difference in a lot of people
- Steve was honest, his presentation had me glued to my seat and made me realize that not only do we encounter pressures, but so do professional responders.
TEACHERS THOUGHTS AFTER HEARING STEVE’S PRESENTATIONS
- Steve came across as someone who is not only knowledgeable and experienced but also someone who cares a lot about keeping kids safe.
- The presentation was really great, the students felt they were part of a conversation as opposed to being lectured to.
- Steve’s stories were effective at making the facts more “real” but also keeping the students interested.
- Steve was quite engaging — chose his stories to suit his audience, prepped the students for the nature of the videos, and was not into the scare tactic approach so it did not turn the students off.
More from Teachers and Administrative staff….
- One of the best presentations we have seen in our school
- The students liked this presentation, a few of them heard another speaker who was here last year but they much preferred Steve’s talk.
- Very good presentation, came from the heart, the students were engaged, many in tears.
- I felt Steve did a great job engaging the students with his personal experiences as well as his choice of videos to supplement his presentation. We would be happy to have him back.
- Talked about how “drug facilitated sexual assault” and how youth are at risk, watch and guard your drinks, recognize symptoms of drugging
- How to open and administer the overdose drug naloxone and that it may or may not work, what to do
- Steve’s expertise as a first responder plays well to the kids. Good speaker
- How fentanyl gets into other drugs from cross contamination from dirty labs
- And the readily available pill presses that can make any pill look like it came from a reputable pharmaceutical company.
- Steve’s presentation was very powerful, especially listening as a parent
- I thought it was an excellent presentation, Steve struck a good balance of scaring them and just talking to them about the facts and he was personable and relatable to the kids.
